Emily, What a beautiful collection of butterflies. I'm sure with a little patience the words for your latest installment will come flowing out of your pen. Thank you Floella for such a nice letter.

Thank you Klamo, butterflies are so exquisite to photograph - I am glad that you have enjoyed them and I am trying to relax into writing Part 3 of Mira’s story, I am sure it will alight when it is ready xoxo

Hi Floella!

my name is Lor, I am very please to meet you. Your dear friend, Susie , pointed me in your direction. I thought of you this morning as my eyes reflected the beauty of an early morning fog , rising in wisps and twirls between a pond full of White-water Lily pads in full flower. I imagine you have sat on a few during your fairy apprentice days, singing to the butterflies, dragonflies, beetles and moths, drying their wings on tiny floating islands. All ,under the careful watch of the Loons and the rising sun.

My dear Lor, I am absolutely delighted to make your acquaintance. Dear Susie is my soul sister weather watcher and I am so pleased to be friends, her writing is utterly superb, don't you think? Thank you indeed, for taking the time to write to me, I adore receiving letters as much as I adore writing them and your words painted such a vivid picture in my mind, and bought back beautiful memories. I could almost hear the dragonflies humming and feel the cool waterlily pads under my toes. During my fairy apprentice days I was indeed fond of balancing on the lily pads and telling bedtime stories to the beetles and butterflies (I tried not to eat to many of them before bed though....)

And the Loons! Such graceful, knowing creatures. I’ve always admired their poise... and their songs, oh my, they carry the kind of wisdom only still water and long silences can teach. Please do give them my regards, should you cross paths again.

Thank you ever so much for thinking of me. It’s a rare and lovely thing to feel so beautifully imagined by someone I've only just met. I think we might be soul siblings to Lor? Please can we be friends? I would delighted to write you a letter and send it in the post, with a pretty stamp in a tiny envelope, if you would like?

Dear Floella, I think you might be right! Soul buddies. Long have I enjoyed the annual gathering of your distant relatives in the early spring. Waiting patiently, checking daily to see if the temperatures have risen enough to warm life in the Vernal pools along the forest edges. I must step slowly, quietly, as quiet as a human can be, while crunching sticks and dried leaves on the forest floor, you know how clumsy we are. And then one day, just like your fairy tales, the entire pond is alive and in motion, singing, celebrating, music fills the forest. Your friends the Wood frogs croak and clack loudly in their great baritone voice , followed by distant relatives of yours, the Spring peepers, whistling, peeping and crooning in harmony. You probably have met a Spotted salamander or two, they are also invited. Oh, and the Fairy shrimp too.  We are here and we are ready to start the next generation! Well, you are much better at interpreting Frog linguistics, I bow to your expertise. Indeed, quite the gathering, even the birds cannot help but join in. Sending me a letter via human mail? I am humbled by your offer. Better yet, since you are a Fairy after all, I would love it if you left me a note on a Lily pad. My address is May Pond ,Vermont. My favorite Lily pad is the one next to the granite rock slab, half submerged in the water, next to the patch of Bedstraw, which is near the stone path , close to the waterfall, there you will note the calm pool, the one that  the Loon guards, watch out for her chicks as you skirt passed the Leather Leaf bush on the right. Now kick out one or two strokes and my pad should be in full view, two large cupped flowers. Leave your note under the pedals and I shall find it. Safe travels, maybe I will see you there, oh, that’s right you will be traveling under the cover of magic. I have a grand idea, come to the party next spring! Your new friend, Lori🐸✨🪄

Dearest Emily, I am here at last, catching up with loved writers and their beautiful words... sending you love via Floella, who writes just as beautifully and with an eye for detail as exquisitely as you do - how is that even possible? ;-)

It is an odd thing to have a story all written in ones mind but find the words adrift somewhere far from the page, Floella writes

“Some stories,”... “are like butterflies. You can see them in your mind’s eye, love them deeply, catch glimpses of their beauty as they drift and flicker above the page, but only with stillness, with patience, and with the gentlest attention, will the words come to rest.”

I quite agree... I have such a story, a wild and passionate love affair of the kind only nature elicits, now months in the making but halted by butterflies and moths and the occasional pipistrel hovering and fluttering too distant to be coerced onto paper... I wait, as you do, for the words to settle, for the gossamer threads of meaning to arrange themselves in a way that beguiles the reader into a deepest sigh of enchantment.

Patience, patience... they will land when they are ready 🦋

Sending love sweet soul, I am looking forward to the day I can read your final chapter immensely, as with all things creative though, there is no need for hurrying. 💛xx

I never knew that England was home to so many beautiful butterflies! I thought such colour and variety would only be found on a tropical island like Bali.

Such gorgeous writing Floella. Thank you. I smiled as soon as I saw your little froggie fairy self and couldn't wait to read your letter. Please pass on to Emily that I know her words will flow again. Sometimes stepping back from "trying" and just letting go is the invitation the words need to come forward in their own time. xx 💛🦋🦋🦋
