Dearest Emily, don't doubt, just go with the flux and flow of the creative ribbons I know you have waving inside you.

Like all things natural, sometimes they are tangled, sometimes broken, sometimes wilted from lack of the perfect breath of fresh air, there is always a reason and you will know when they are flowing freely in all their myriad colours again!

Kimberly is right, the uncertainty, the not knowing when or how is part of the magic of the journey, enjoy this too because you, of all the beautiful people here create magic as if you were born with a wand in your hands. The next chapter will come when its ready, and the one after that and all the beautiful stories and animals and drawings after that too! And I can't wait for any one of them to show up in my inbox!

All my love sweet soul - have the very best holiday ever! xx💛xx

One of my favorite parts about a creative life is the uncertainty, the not knowing where something is taking you but going for the ride anyway. It makes me feel like creativity is less like something generated from within and more an invisible collaboration and relationship with the beyond. It’s clear your creativity comes from this conversation, always so fresh and inventive and alive. I can’t wait for parts 3 & 4!

Oh my goodness Kimberly - yes, “an invisible collaboration with the beyond”… uncertainty is the greatest magic of creativity, I think. Thank you for reading and for always offering such beautiful responses to my musings. I appreciate you so much. One of the reasons for this experiment, is because I’ve had another story growing in my mind for some years about creativity - and how it is an invisible force outside of us (like in Big Magic…) and I wanted to test myself to see if I could actually write fiction, before I attempted it…! Xoxo ✨💛

Loved your first line as it is a lead-in to wonder and evolution and it's true for all of us, if only we'd open ourselves to this wonderful truth!

It is a wonderful truth, so beautifully put Stephanie. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for reading. When I was a child, I assumed that grown-ups had it all worked out and knew what to do and what was going on, but now (many years beyond that…) I realise they, we!, don’t - and we just do the best we can. Evolution of self is actually so exciting! Thank you for being here 💛✨

I can’t wait to read this Emily. Today is full, but another day will free up. The process into the unknown is beautiful. I love when I think I’ve finished a piece and a stirring to delve in and turn a new corner- calls me to go deeper to some unknown place- within me or beyond. The unfolding of mystery is why I write. If I didn’t have that experience I am sure I would say F this. So I can’t wait to dive in. Xo

Thank you so much Andrea - yes that’s so true, the process into the unknown is beautiful - I think I have got the bug for writing fiction, and ‘the unfolding of mystery’ too - I assumed that writing fiction wouldn’t feel like a mystery unfolding for the author, but it is! I hope that you enjoy the story so far. 😊💛✨

What you said about drawing struck me: that you don't know how but you can and you do. I think sometimes my mental health symptoms make me forget that not knowing doesn't disqualify me from creating. The uncertainty isn't a bug, it's actually part of how the work gets made. We are all naturally creative just as part of being human.

Yes absolutely Kathryn! Being creative is in our DNA, I think we get hung up on thinking we need to know how, to be creative, but it’s innate. Thank you so much for reading and know that nothing disqualifies you from creating 💛✨

"there’s something wonderfully freeing in realising that, in the end, we’re allowed to make it up as we go along." This is something I wish I had learned AGES ago when I first started trying to write fiction as a teen. Writing fiction is damn hard and I admire you so much for your ability to write anyway! I'm slowly trying to get back into writing fiction and have had a short story in progress for months that I think might actually be a play? (another form I'd also love to dip my toe into).

I can't wait to read your story and good luck with part three! <3

Thanks so much Nico, a play sounds like a brilliant project to get into - I love it! I think that there is such joy in letting creativity take us where it will. I hope you enjoy reading the story so far 💛✨

Ah, Emily, I feel *all* of this! 💚 That Bertrand Russell quote -- wow. And, totally agree, writing fiction is unbelievably hard. I've been known to quip, it's harder that doing architecture, which itself is notoriously difficult. The muse wants what she wants! All I can do is listen, heed, try my best (give my all).

"I love anything creative" -- big YES to this. So glad the prompt sparked this reflection, and thank you for this peek into your process.

Thank you Julie, yes that quote is one of my favourites - such truth! I never imagined writing fiction would be easy, but wow, once you start, you realise how hard it is, and it brings with it such a deep appreciation of fiction writers. I can imagine that architecture is pretty hard - writing fiction is much harder than accounting! But also, much much more fun! 💛✨

The first two parts were magical, and I'm somehow unsurprised (and utterly delighted) that this project is uncooperative and had a mind of is own. Yes! Thank you for listening, ave for igniting my curiousity. That spills right off your own page and into my heart! I can't wait to read what is born.

Dear Kendall, I feel as if you know what it is for these projects to have a (delightful) mind of their own - your own words spill right into my heart too and I sense their wildness and need. So very grateful for your friendship here 💛✨

Hello Fiction Writer. 😊.

I have loved reading the first two parts since you started and am eager to read part 3.

I relate to so much of what you say, particularly: "It was meant to be a tidy, self-contained piece"

😀 Ha yeah, that never happens in Life or our writing. Well, not when we really want to go with the creative flow.

Enjoy your holiday Emily. xx

So true Jo - it never happens!! And yet, every week, I think - I’ll just write something short and eloquent and tight, and it won’t take me too long….. 😂😂😂 thank you for being here, it is a gift to know you 💛✨

I promise I will read it, but I'd thought I'd reply in the 1st instance, I haven't got a clue what I'm doing, it's been automatic pilot for decade's, but i. Still alive etc, eating, imbibing looking after people's dogs, so I must not have some idea, because I'm not holding the reins or steering the tiller thing or nothing to be honest, so don't worry, ☃️🌞🍄🧃🐶🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐐🦇🦥🦤🐡🐞🦗🙂, I digress........................................, I can't remember the question..........? ....... buy local and plant some 🌿, 😇
