Thank you so much for including my sweet treats in your series, Emily!! 🥰
I'm SO impressed with your rainbow cake, wow! Even if it was more of a visual feast than anything haha. I've yet to try making one of those so maybe I'll be bold and give it a shot next time ☺️🌈✨
It was so inspiring to read about your baking Jess and I'm so pleased to be able to share some of your creativity here! I love that there is such a vast array of different ways to be creative - I excited to be able to share it 💛
Love what you do for your family and friends Jess. They are very lucky. I am also a Gemini so I'm dreaming of what deliciousness you would bake for me. Courier to New Zealand please. 💛
Deal!! I would love to try a lemon cake recipe, I'll mail you a slice! ☺️ Although it's winter in NZ so maybe that's a little out of season, flavor-wise? 🤔 Something cozier perhaps!
Enjoy reading this post. Thanks for sharing Jess and Emily. In fact, I just ate an Apple Cake last week for the first time ! I'll try to bake something this weekend...hmm... maybe coffee walnut cake?
Jess and Emily that was just gorgeous! What mouth watering read through all those amazing bakes! Thank you for sharing… I’ll join the chat later with a few pics of my better attempts at cakes and cookies! I love inventing cake recipes, my family are less keen 🫣😂
I think my worst ever was using an unlabelled pot of jam for my sons birthday cake one year which turned out to be chutney 😝 and a duck for Christmas lunch which I served after following all the instructions - it was inedible, even the dog wouldn’t touch it! 😂
oh thank you Susie! you made me laugh out loud at the jam/chutney cake, and I really needed that laugh today. And duck that even the dog wouldn’t touch, that is saying something!! I would love to see some photos of your bakes in the Chat. sending love.
Emily and Jess, such a lovely post celebrating all things creativity. There is nothing as rewarding as a family member enjoying home cooked baking. Home is everything. 💜
I won't post photos of any of my poor childrens' birthday cake disasters here. I have no talent for decorating. There is a website people have directed me to called something like cakedisasters.com. 🤪
They always tasted good though apparently.
We then cut out white sugar and white flour as much as possible about 14 years ago for health reasons. Focussed on baking with honey, rice flour etc and more natural ingredients. Lots of yummy stuff still to be made.
As long as a cake gets gobbled up quickly, who bothers about what it looked like! 😆
Baking with honey sounds delish! It's cool to me how all the different ingredients act differently and contribute unique characteristics. I bet that's been a cool evolution to see in your baking experience!
Home is everything, so true 💛 and it is the taste that matter of course!! Baking with honey and rice flour sounds delicious. Thank you for reading and always lovely to see you here 💛💛
Really enjoyed reading this post and Jess' enthusiasm for baking just shines through in her words. Love how she bakes with the seasons too and so interesting how the red velvet cake turned out too. I used to bake muffins a lot for my kids, just because my eldest has allergies so no shop bought ones were suitable. But I've got out of the habit of baking since I had my 3rd child. My favourite thing I baked was just a simple sponge cupcake, dairy free buttercream icing with strawberries, raspberries and blackberries on top, a hit with the kids too! The worst thing I made was a banana loaf which I didn't measure the ingredients for properly, it tasted of burnt oil and went straight in the bin!!🤣
I've got an interview series all about motherhood and creativity over on my Substack if that's the kind of thing that you mean? I love hearing how mums make time to be creative in and amongst the chaos! X
Oh how lovely Jenna!! The cupcake sounds amazing, I’m crazing one now for breakfast as I write!! I don’t bake much now, but my daughter has taken to baking more and more and I get to enjoy her creations! She baked my son’s birthday cake the last couple of years, which was fab! And some wonderful chocolate muffins for a family get together last weekend 💛 For the festival, I’m looking for posts that people have written about their own creativity, things like inspiration and ideas, process and behind the scenes, tools and techniques etc 💛💛
It was lovely, super sweet! Oh how lovely that your daughter bakes - what's her favourite thing that she likes to bake? Amazing that she bakes your son's bday cakes too, what a lovely thing to do! She needs to be on Bake Off!! Thanks for that - just looked back at your original Festival of Creativity post too and I get it now, such a great idea! x
Thank you so much for the kind words, Jenna! And for the laugh about the banana loaf in the bin 😂😂 I've "bin" there myself haha! But you truly can't go wrong with a classic sponge and fresh berries, that's so lovely and I bet your kids will be remembering those sweet moments for decades to come 🥰
Yes I won't be repeating that recipe! Oh yes, my favourite combination I think for sure. I hope so - your post has inspired me to do more baking with the kids over the summer holidays, so thank you for that! x

Ooooh! Lemon drizzle cake. Someone made one and brought it to work last week. It was amazing 🤩
That sounds fabulous!

Oooh I love coffee and walnut cake! Delicious. Perhaps you could share a photo in the chat! 💛🤩
Ooh coffee walnut is such a winning combo - best of luck!! ☕
Hi Emily, baked coffee walnut muffin instead , a healthier version ( very low sugar ). 😀 Not sure how to attach the photo to show you.
I’ve see. In Notes!! How fabulous they look Yean. Than you for sharing 💛💛

Jess, you have inspired me. I love how you went on a quest for the perfect cookie. Hmm, I see some baking in my near future.
Hope you have fun with whatever you make!! 🥧
Cookies. "Healty ones" to take with me when I'm out and about. I'm using this cookie ( https://findyourawesomesauce.substack.com/p/peanut-butter-chickpea-cookies) as a base and want to create some variations on it.
Ooh sounds unique and delicious Klamo!! I’d love to see some pics 🤩
At the moment those in the link above look similar or better than mine.
Yumm!
