Loved this post Emily and Klamo 😊 it was a joy to read and to see and hear about your creative expressions of joy too. I like to think that I am a creative person, but sometimes I can’t get the beautiful pictures (paintings, poems, etc.) out of my mind and into the real world. But does coloring count? I feel that is one of those creative projects that when I want to try it, it is easy to just follow the path of the lines already set out for me. Maybe it’s too simple, but it’s about the “simple joy” of it isn’t it? Anyway, Klamo and Emily, thanks for showing us the path to your creativity. 💕✨😌
Thank you so much Angel - colouring absolutely counts. Creativity is in our souls and however we express it, counts so much. Its not at all too simple, it can be meditative and calming to colour, I always thing 💛💛💛
Thank you. Coloring certainly counts. There is a lot of creativity in choosing the right colors and knowing how to color between those lines. I hope you keep enjoying it. It is such a nice and relaxing activity.
Thank you for reading Jo, and for your kind words, I’m so pleased to have connected with you. I’ve been so enchanted by the wonderful creativity I’m discovering here, I can’t help but want to share it. When my mind is free, this is where it wanders 💛💛
What a great idea for a series of posts. I love how you challenge yourself with questions like "What would happen if...", Klamo, it's such a creative approach! I've featured your innovative work in this post in the latest issue of What To Crochet Next.
Thank you for liking my approach and sharing it in the latest issue of What To Crochet Next. I find this series by Emily so inspirational. I'm honored to be part of it.
I'm really enjoying your posts - I long to be crafty but lack the patience to perfect my clumsiness. I'm doing terrible embroidery to soothe my urge and completely understand how addictive it can become!
I totally get the addictive and soothing factors. For me it has to do with the feeling of the yarn passing through my hands. So enjoyable, so soothing.
I find it magical to be able to make a picture just by stabbing cloth with thread! It brings me a childlike joy I think - plus there's something lovely about doing something creative for it's own sake, which is something I've lost from writing.
Ahaaa. I loved this. I cherished Klamo’s use of open, curious questions - coaching herself through the process. And the thoughts about how anything is possible with some yarn and crochet hook. Love how abundant and “wealthy” and empowered we can feel when it comes to creating. Creating something from nothing - magic. 🪄
I feel we’re in the throes of a creative renaissance - it’s been burgeoning beneath the surface for a goodly few years but perhaps more and more we’re waking up to the Olden, Golden Ways. Or maybe that’s just what I’m desiring and so therefore believing. 🤓
Thank you. You are so kind. I did some knitting as a child, but I find it so, so stressful. All those stitches on just pointed needles. They can fall of so, so easily. Scary. I just don't understand how knitters do it. So I bow to your talent and skill.
Aw thank you Susie. There is so much wonderful creativity here - Its what I love to see more than anything else, so it feels like having the chance to share it on While I Was Drawing is perfect. I only ever crocheted squares, but I am going to give it a go myself - just something simple though! I bought some multicoloured yarn and a hook!
It took some practice to crochet with both hands, but now it's automatic. The only thing I still have some trouble with, is when I have to crochet into the starting chain with my left hand. In some way I find crocheting with both hands easier because the front of my work is always facing me.
That sounds fab Rebecca! It seems there are so many possibilities. I found an old book about crochet on my shelf and a pattern for a jellyfish on the internet and I think I’m going to have a go!! 💛
Thank you! While writing this I realized how far I have come in my journey.
As I wrote, designing can be a frustrating process, but in my opinion crochet is very forgiving. If something isn't like you would like it to be, you can rip it out or try again. Done that lots and lots of times. My advice to myself is to take very small steps. I do a lot of testing before beginning the "big project" I have in mind. A shawl is way easier than a möbius band. I dream of making a cardigan or vest for myself. I haven't had the courage thus far, but I'm working toward it. Tiny, tiny steps.
Thank you Kim 💛 I’m so excited to share the kaleidoscope of creativity that’s abounding here, it’s so exciting to discover all the wonderful things that creatives do for joy. I’m looking forward to sharing more and more 😘
Thank you for letting me show of some of my crochet. It's an honor. You are so kind and supportive.
The pleasure was mine Klamo, thank you for sharing you beautiful work 💛💛💛

I love how you celebrate and bring others into the light Emily. A beautiful quality that we need more of in this world.
Wonderful to read about Klamo.
Thank you both for highlighting the beauty of creativity in whatever form it takes. 💛

“there's something lovely about doing something creative for it's own sake” yes yes yes 🙌🥰💛 perfectly said!
Ah thats amazing Kathryn!! I would offer that if it is joyful and soothing then it cannot possibly be terrible. I would LOVE to see if you would be happy to share? You are so right. Creating something from nothing is the real magic. Thank you for your kind words.
And thank YOU for sharing your creativity and magic! 🪄💫
Thank you Suzy, yes 🙌. When I read it for the first time it was so wonderful, simple and powerful and beautiful. I had tears in my eyes 🥹

You are an angel for sharing others creative projects Emily..! 💛
Crochet is one of those arts I have tried so many times and failed… I can knit forever but crochet simply eludes me!
Klamo I bow to your patience, your projects are outstanding and to think you make the patterns too… I’m speechless! 🙌🏽

Don’t forget to show us your creation Emily, good luck! Though I’m sure you won’t need it! X
I enjoy crochet and sometimes make my own patterns. My latest project is a throw to put at the end of my bed to brighten up my bedroom a bit.
I’m intrigued by the idea of crocheting with two hands. Seems complicated!
Oh, I would love to see your trow.

I absolutely will!! 💛
Incredible, Klamo! Thank you for sharing your journey and skills with us. And thank you Emily for creating this space to share other creatives.
I haven’t felt brave enough to explore my own designs in crochet. I wouldn’t even know how to begin. I love this prompt of what if, or could I?
