Thanks for your thoughtful comment Jonathan, it was lovely to share Nico’s letter and I too love the idea of creativity as an anchor that brings us back to ourselves, no matter what 💛✨
It really means a lot to hear that. Creativity really does have a way of grounding us and keeping us connected to ourselves. I love that you shared Nico’s letter, it brought a whole new perspective to the conversation. Always appreciate the thoughtful insights you bring!
This really is a beautiful story Nico, I truly believe that to do anything for ourselves, just for our own wellbeing is a necessity to survive in a world that demands so much of us visually and emotionally that we would rather not have to consider. By which I mean cruelty, poverty, war, greed, there is no hiding from the pain in any of these in today's plugged in, switched on, all lights blaring world. We need these creative moments of peace and self reassurance, even if they are few. Don't ever stop dancing!
"Let me show you how alive I am." Yes yes yes, these are words we need to live by!
Thank you both, Emily and Nico for this beautifully inspirational essay. 💛x
Thank you Susie! I'm so glad it resonated and you said it beautifully: "a necessity to survive in a world that demands so much of us visually and emotionally..." 💙
What a beautiful story. It feels nice to be reminded that it is ok to create just for ourselves; for how it makes us feel and what extra value it brings to our lives even if we don't share it with others. Nico, I wish you many happy hours of free and inspirational dancing. Emily, thank you for sharing.

What’s one creative practice that always brings you back to yourself, no matter what?
I really loved how Nico described creativity as an anchor, a way to process and reconnect, especially in overwhelming moments.
The idea that creativity doesn’t have to be about perfection or public recognition but simply about the act of making is so freeing.
This was such a refreshing and inspiring read, and it’s a great reminder to create for the joy of it, not just for the outcome.
Thanks so much for the kind words, I’m glad they resonated with you!
