Kim, The way you describe how you feel when you crochet resonated so, so much with me. Yes, same here. Your snow-gnomes look like a cute family, all different but the same. I'm sure the recipients loved them.
These are adorable!! Haha, I admit, I was reading and also totally thinking, "She could absolutely sell these!" But I definitely understand the desire not to burden something lovely with a heavy "business" responsibility I guess you could call it.
They are adorable aren’t they!? Kim’s words feels so aligned to how I feel about my creativity. I just want to create for the joy and not have it feel like a chore 💛✨
Kim this was just lovely and so evocative of my own recollections of learning crochet. Sadly there it stops because I was and still am a complete Neanderthal with a crochet hook and yarn - I just never could get the hang of just one needle, give me two and I'm away in La-La land until the item is finished!
Thank you for sharing both Kim and Emily, I am in awe of both your creations! 🧶x
It's so funny isn't it! I always struggled with two needles, could never manage to do that whole finger loopy thing and always had to take my whole hand off the needle to loop the thread, but with a single hook, I'm happy! Having said that though, knitting a pair of socks is on my creative bucket list!
I've seen so many different techniques for knitting, Im not sure it really matters Emily, Im not a speedy knitter but I do find it almost a comfort in winter... and I've never managed to make a pair of knitted socks never mind crocheted ones! Don't forget to show us a pic when they're done! x
"When I crochet, I am lulled by the rhythm of the hook." I ADORE this sentence. I love what you write about crochet being a way to fill the in-between moments - moments where it can be so easy to reach for our phones. That's one of the reasons I'd like to get back into it!
Also, those snow gnomes are absolutely adorable. <3
Thanks, Nico! I appreciate you sharing your love of a particular sentence. I often highlight sentences in books I’m reading that I just love, it’s helpful for me as a writer ☺️
Kim, I love what you said about not wanting your crochet to become a chore. My family has suggested I do a farmer's market, as well. Partly, I don't want others judging what I do because then it feels like they're judging me, but also, I want to hold space for my creativity, I don't want it to become something I "have" to do. Also, my grandmother taught me to crochet, as well. But, it didn't really resonate for me at the time. Now, many, many years later, I finally caught the bug and I feel my grandmother every time I pick up my yarn and hook. Thanks for sharing! XO
Oh, what a lovely thing to have in common! Wonderful that you’ve come back to it and can feel closer to your grandmother in that way. And yes, I so hear you on not wanting sales to ruin what we have with our creativity.
Emily, Thank you for the mention. I hope you are enjoying your crochet journey. The rainbow jellyfish looks so cute and your granny squares have such a beautiful color combination.

It’s a lovely feeling, isn’t it? So glad it resonated.
One of the best!

It’s radical, in a way, to hold fast to the joy of it without commoditizing our creativity.
Amen!

i want to make socks too!
Crocheted socks..? Sounds beautiful Kim!
I’ve seen crochet patterns, but I’m hoping to pull out my knitting needles and try my hand at knitting socks.

Thanks, Susie. I think it’s neat how different types of creativity call to us or work better for us.
Beautiful!
Thank you, Tracy!

Same here!
I so love your snowmen Kim. Full of humour and cuteness. 😊
You both touch on that deeper need for creativity so eloquently -
"It’s a wonderful reminder of the joy and peace that can be found in the simple act of creating."
Thank you. xx
Thank you, Jo ☺️
Thank you Jo 💛✨ I feel like I need that reminder constantly.

I love that bit too, Danielle. As soon as my creativity starts to feel liken obligation, I want to run away and give it all up!

Thanks so much Klamo - I've been loving it so much. I adore my jellyfish, I need to make another to give to my mum when she visits!
Oh, I'm sure she'll like it. All those tentacles are fun to play with.
So lovely to hear that my share inspired you, Pipp. Do come back and let us know how it goes if you try it! Wishing you much calm.
