Once upon a time, there was an old woman who had spent her life chasing Love and Happiness, waiting to be successful. She’d caught up with Happiness many times and had beautiful memories of when she’d spent time with Happiness at her side. Memories of happy times with her family as a child, spending time in the glorious outdoors, memories of time spent with her beautiful family, her beautiful children, and with beautiful friends.
I have returned to this piece again and again over the last few days as I found it so beautiful and so moving. As I was washing up this afternoon I recalled what you have said here and your words helped me just let go of that slight sense of dread I get - that with the incessant demands of chores I will never find enough time for doing what I love best - thank you for the reminder to embrace all the pieces of life and find the joy within.
I’m so pleased Lou 😊 thank you for your beautiful and kind comments. I wrote it after a conversation with a friend who helped me to see that there is magic in small every day things.
Absolutely beautiful, Emily! I had a big beaming smile reading through this. What a gorgeous reminder that love and happiness is all around us if only we look for them 🥰
Thank you so much Sophie, when I wrote it I thought it was perhaps a little overly sentimental, but I shared anyway. I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰. It was inspired by conversations with a friend for which I will always be grateful.
wow this is beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us. I'm now off to draw rather than mindlessly scroll through more emails. There is a big smile on my face.
Thank you Anna, Drawing is definitely good for the soul! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Happy drawing 😊 (I just realised I replied to you last week but not directly to your comment 🤦♀️)
“As the spell whispered its magic, the years fell away and she was a young woman again, with years of life still to live.”
This line made me so emotional! What a beautiful and powerful story. I love this idea that youth is a mindset, that it’s in how we chose to embrace and experience the world ♥️
