Thank you so much Jo for your kind comments. It’s so wonderful to be connecting with you here. I take so many photos all the time and telling the stories around them feels so natural and fun. Thank you for reading 😘
Wading in the water and enjoying the mud. Perfect day as a kid, knowing that the thunderstorm of Mother’s ire awaits you, but living in the moment of mud lusciousnous.
So so true! Thank you for this reminder today. I plan to reinstate my imperfectly perfect gratitude today starting with irises blooming beautifully amongst the imperfection of the yard. It needs some tidying, some professionals and more help than I can muster myself this year. I can sit on the porch and enjoy the imperfectly perfect amongst the green and the purple irises, and all the full leaves on the tree. Thank you and enjoy your perfectly perfect day today. 💞
That's so beautiful. Its so easy to think everything has to be glossy and perfect - and I don't even like glossy and perfect. I love the thought of imperfectly perfect gratitude. wonderful. Thank you for your kind comments.
Perfection, or as close as I can get, is very satisfying, but the frustrations, the discomforts, or the pains are what remind me that I am truly alive. Without the lows there can be no highs.
Thanks Jenny 💛💛 I feel like the stuff that didn't work out quite how I'd imagine sort of contribute to perfect. It sounds silly when I say it, but glossy flawlessness doesn't feel perfect to me. I feel like when things are a little rough around the edges, that's what makes them perfect. Does that sound like I'm losing my marbles!?
Nah, I feel the same most of the time. I had an uncle that used to say: "It's all part of the adventure," whenever anything didn't go exactly to plan. Even though we were never really close, it's one thing I will always remember about him. I think that if everything was always perfect life would get pretty boring.
I felt like I was right with you on the dog walk. Beautifully described. As a dog owner I was wincing at all the mud and water - my dog loves to roll on anything stinky! Then we have to try and wash her off in any puddle or stream we can find 😂
Thank you Lesley! Oh yes, they love to roll in the stinky stuff! You reminded me that Suzie did indeed find a pile of fox poo that she rolled in 🙈 but it washed off in the river 🤣
That was simply gorgeous Emily, I listened to you recounting your muddy walk as I took my own rascal of a dog on our own very wet and muddy walk before work first thing this morning! It was just like you were walking with me and I with you! Although, unless that swan was at a safe distance I would have run a mile, you stumbled upon the only creature in the world I am terrified of… I’ve been attacked three times by a mother protecting her young and it is quite enough!
Enjoy your evening lovely, the sun has just come out here after days and days, or is it weeks and weeks, of grey and very miserable weather, I’m going for a walk with wellies and my camera! 🤍🍃xxx
Thank you so much dear Susie. I’m so pleased to have joined you on your walk. I think we got off lightly with the swan, I wondered if there was the other parent close by with the nest and the one that came to share its annoyance was attempting to distract us. I’m pleased we escaped unscathed. To be attacked three times by a mother swan, now that is scary!
The dogs and I just went down the lane this evening, and it was lovely - no swans in sight, and we stayed clear of the mud too! I hope that you have had a beautiful day and enjoyable walk with wellies and camera 💛
This all sounds perfect to me, especially the puppies. Inspires me to look at my own life through the same lens. I don't have puppies but I got to pet one yesterday. That was a pretty perfect moment!
Thank you Tina, how wonderful that you got some puppy time 😍 as I reply to your comment, I have one in my lap determinedly biting my fingers and my hoody 🐾🐾
Awwwww what a lovely, lovely read. 🥹 How beeeautiful you get to see blackbird chicks! Amazing. My heart is frequently lost to birds - just cherish them so much.
Thank you lovely Suzy 💛 baby birds are so ugly and that is just so perfect isn’t it! I feel incredibly lucky that they’ve nested so conveniently for me to video and photograph them.
This is absolutely beautiful! It makes me want to write a post like this! And those pictures of puppies and hatchlings...oh my gosh too precious. Definitely perfect!
Thanks Sarah! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. After I wrote it I was convinced it was so very far from perfect 🙈 but then, I guess that was the point. Tag me if you do, I'd love to read.
A lovely post. I felt I was right with you on your walk. Beautiful photos.
Thank you Tami 💛 it was so lovely
I thoroughly enjoyed this. You’re a brave soul to take the dogs for such a long wet walk. It’s so different from where I live. It was just perfect. 😁
Thanks Sharon! Susie particularly loves the water so I hope to take them again, but preferably when the path isn’t flooded!! 🤣
Stunning Emily.
Loved the first photo of the horses. Almost brought a tear - but you know what I'm like. 😊
Also love your butterfly divider line!
Most of all love your words and your "perfect" story.
Thank you so much for what you give to the world. 💛

This prompted me to look up the etymology of the word perfect which amounts to done completely. Which feels just right ❤️
Well, that is perfect, no pun intended! Thank you Kim 💛

Haha!! Yes so true. Mud was always such fun when we were kids!! 💛

😘 sending so much love Marion. 🥹 I'm a little tearful to see you in the comments on Subtack - you've made my day xx
An excellent reminder to stop and appreciate what went right instead of dwelling on what went wrong. Sometimes, mindset is everything. Thanks Emily. 🧡

Beautiful! "It was decidedly not the perfect walk.
And yet, it was." Thank you for being you and sharing with us a glimpse of the world through your eyes. Also -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Thank you so much Brad, in so many ways, your Substack has inspired me to stay joyful and full of hope. Thank you for being you 💛
What a gorgeous read, thank you Emily. :)

Fox poo is just the most awful smell! My dog loves it 🤣
