Oh Emily, this entire post is simply heavenly! From your gentle narration to the gorgeous photos of mushrooms and fungi the like of which I have only dreamt of this year and the illustrations of that beautiful poem... don't ever limit your creativity!
When you say "Creativity has never been limited to a single form inside any of us; it has always held the potential to express itself in a riot of different ways." I feel like I have read an epiphanic statement that releases me from every fear that haunts my own creative waywardness!
Bless you for these words and for sharing them! Now, what can we create today? 😌
Thank you so much for your beautiful words dear Susie. I think, perhaps, you have said it perfectly yourself too, in your response, creativity should be wayward ✨🥰 we can embrace our creative waywardness together!
I am honestly still so excited by the completely awesome mushrooms that I’ve been lucky enough to discover and photograph around here, they are such utter perfection.
As for what to create today, I have an entire creative bucket list and I’m thinking I’ll do it all!! 🤣 if only there were time! Thank you for sending me a sunny Sunday hug, it was wonderful to receive. Sending one right back 💛✨
Aw, Emily... I LOVE this post! Simply exquisite! 👌🍂🧡 I love how you say of the red toadstools... "If they exist, these small wonders sprung from soil, as they surely do, then perhaps the faeries and goblins do too, hiding just out of sight beneath the leaves." Wonderful ✨🧚🏻🍄
Thank you Eva, they are such amazing creations to witness, I am a little obsessed when I find them, I take sooooo many photos. Thank you for reading and for your lovely comments 🍄🟫🍂🍄
Such wonderful photos. The red ones seem like they fell out of a story! I’ve taken quite liking to fungi these days. Right now my yard is covered with little brown ones.
Oh Janelle, thank you so much for reading and for such lovely comments. It seems that Substack has created a space for multidimensional creativity to flourish 🍂🍄
Sarah, I appreciate your comments and support so much, thank you for reading and for your kind comments. I must admit, I very much enjoyed reading this and I have gotten used to hearing my own voice back! ✨💛
Thank you thank you thank you 💛✨ your comments are so kind and thoughtful Jo. Your love is much appreciated. The Fungi and the Fairies sounds like the title to a book I must now write! Sending love across the world to you 🍂
What a beautiful gallery of fungi. I'm having a creative dry spell so it was a good reminder that: time moves like the cycle of creativity, circling back on itself. Now I'm reassured. It will come back.
Nature has a gentle way of reminding us that creativity is like the seasons, always in motion and ready to bloom again when the time is right. Your creativity will find its way back, just like those hidden mushrooms waiting for the right moment to appear. Thank you for your kind words, Klamo, it’s always so lovely to see you in the comments here 🍄🍄🟫
Thank you for cheering me up. Nature does have a gentle way of reminding us that everything has a season and that everything is always in motion. I just have to be patient.

I loved this, Emily! And so enjoyed listening to your voice narrate it, like I was walking in the woods with you.
And the poem! I got such a wide smile on my face - "... As All Hallow's Eve approaches
/ watch the skies from east to west / For October is the month / that we witches love the best." Yes, yes it is! 🤎🧙🏽♀️
