You rock!

Why thank you, David! My photographs are never what I would hope, and mainly I capture inanimate things - to have the skill and artistry to photograph a bird and capture the wonder that you do, well, that would be awesome! ✨

You capture so very much, Emily. Magic...

I agree, although I believe one has to be still to make such beautiful photos as David and at this I am rubbish, so blurry it is!

I love this Emily! You say the moon can’t be captured but somehow in your words you capture the impossibility, which in a strange inside-out way, is exactly how her silvery gossamer self should be held. 🌑

Thank you Kimberly, it was somehow satisfying to capture the impossibility of capturing her, after all the years that I’ve watched and loved her and failed to adequately photograph her. Thank you for being her in the comments, it’s such a gift to share words 🌕✨

“A gift to share words.” I will write that on a sticky note, like a prayer, and put it on my desktop. 💛

nice pictures! We're on the top floor of our building that looks over Lake Michigan and I'm always all but hanging out the window when I'm trying to get a good shot of the moon or sun. My husband is all "Don't drop your phone!" Which of course, I'm terrified that one day I will!

Oh and that mouse? ADORABLE

Thank you Kim, the moon appears to be another of my obsessions - I think she must look breathtaking across the lake, and the urge to capture her strong enough to risk that scary prospect. The mouse has been watching for sometimes, but I don’t know if I’ve shared her here before. I have her a moonbow for this letter - the moonbows I have seen are stunning and completely impossible to photograph 🙈✨💛 thank you for being here, it’s always so lovely to chat with you x

This is so lovely (ooh 11.11 when writing this). I feel the urge to call out: Awwwwoooooooooooooooooooo after the breathtaking Wolf moon this week! 🌕🌝🐺Such a precious post. X x x

Haha! That’s perfect Suzy! Awwwwwooooooooooo indeed. And I did not know it was the wolf moon I have been watching these past days. Thank you - She is beautiful. Thank you for reading and joining me here in the comments to chat. Sending love xx

Gorgeous.

It's that dance isn't it,? Wanting to witness something beautiful and impermanent, never to be repeated. And the drive to capture it so we can hold it, study it and revisit it on another future day. A fruitless endeavour but one that we'll never stop striving for.

Thank you Janelle 💛 yes, you captured that tension so perfectly. Our desire to hold onto fleeting beauty, even as we know it’s impossible. It’s such a human thing. The act of striving feels just as meaningful as the moment itself, like we’re preserving not just the image but the way it made us feel. A bittersweet, endless dance indeed ✨

16/12/24 is my favorite.

Thank you Jade 🌖 I think that one might be my favourite too - the moonbow was stunning 💛

You know something dear Emily? Sometimes we only need to capture beauty in our hearts for it to be perfect! And I think at this you are expert... 💛

I will just add I too spend an inordinate amount of time running up and down my hill trying to capture the perfect moon shot! Needless to say I have deleted thousands! xx

Oh so many deleted photos! She is ever elusive and shy. I think you are absolutely right, and just some words and imperfect picture as tiny place holders so we can revisit the moments in our hearts whenever we want. 💛✨

Your photos are luminous and beautiful Emily… I think sometimes we just have to call them art! xx

Your poem, painting and photos capture what you say you can't Emily. Beautiful! The moon is alluring and mystical and evades capture on purpose. She teases us.

I get up at 4.30 am to write ( or attempt to as the case may be these last few months). The moon is often so bright as she shines onto my cheek I have to shield my eyes as I write. I wonder sometimes if it's possible to get Moonburn.

Wishing you a wonderful week. xx ❤️

Isn't it funny what we notice Jo - how did I live through 46 years of life and never truly pay attention to how incredibly bright the moon is!? Moonburn - ha, thank goodness that's not a thing. Thank you for reading and sharing your lovely words in the comments here, I truly appreciate you. xoxo 💛

How beautiful your poem is Emily. And the mouse and moon delightful! You've captured the moons so beautifully too.

Thank you so much Frances, that's so kind of you to say. I added the moonbow to the mouse's moon after looking through my photos and finding the two occasions that I'd tried to photograph a moonbow - so lovely and yet still somehow don't come close to how beautiful they were to see ✨💛

Love, love the picture of 16/12/24. The more moons you catch the better they'll get.

Thank you Klamo, there was the most wonderful moonbow and I was pleased with the pictures, but they still didn’t come anywhere close to being as beautiful as the real thing ✨💛

Oh, I know the feeling. Most of the time pictures are not as impressive as the real thing. We can only try again and again. But everything starts with noticing and that seems to be one of your super powers.
