I had to reread this today, as it settled as water drops in dense soil. This was a math and science lesson as well, wooing numbers out of beauty. We surely need to slow our mad pace. Thank you Emily.

So thankful to Susie Mawhinney for sharing this! I love the artful balance of word-pictures and picture-words. The spareness of the poetry and eloquence of the photographs go straight to the heart. 💚

Dear Emily, I have missed your beautiful voice this week until now and so long after you posted. Never in all my long years have I ever been this busy; seeing through the fog of end of year papers, the tangled mess that is my garden (as beautiful as it is) and concern for the plight of all humans, for more than a few minutes has become a luxury confined to those minutes before sleep when eyes and ears stay tuned for just long enough to listen and gasp in awe.

And oh I am gasping... such exquisiteness, such noticing and rethreading of all the gossamer threads of natures magic ! The filigree of word and image combined in your poetic prose is divine, I have goosebumps...

How can we jeopardise such gifts, how?

Sweet dreams my beautiful talented friend, I have no idea how you find the time to do all you do but I am so very grateful you do - much, much love 💛✨xx

Susie, you are always so generous and kind, my dear friend. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and listen and share beautifully words that lift my heart. I confess that I look forward to our conversations and I am so grateful that you eek a little time to share such beautiful and poetic words with me in response to mine, when you are so frantically busy. And your words are so lovely - “gossamer threads of nature’s magic” and “filigree of words and image”, gorgeous words themselves - I am humbled. Just a few more weeks until the summer break, I am longing for it to arrive for you. We are enjoying increasingly warm days that will be too warm by the end of this week, but at least I have only today at work and then my weekend is here. Sending love 💛✨

Your poem was evocative and moving, and the photographs were like Illustrations to your words. Lovely! I had never heard of engraver beetles, but their work is amazing. Thank you, Emily.

Thank you so much for reading and your kind comments, Nancy 💛 I love sharing words and pictures together - they complement each other and enhance each other in a way that the words or pictures alone cannot achieve.

I felt exactly the same when I first noticed the engraver beetles’ work, like stumbling across a secret, intricate story left behind in the wood. I’m so happy to be able to share that wonder 💛✨

Emily...have you had that sensation, upon a cold and dewspangled dawn, of someone ever close to your heart, blow deep breaths through your jersey, just below your collar, have you?

I felt your writing doing this to me now, as I read, and I tremble...still! Kind regards, Keith.

Keith, what a beautiful, breath-catching image. I read your words and felt the shiver of recognition you describe. That sense of closeness, of something quiet and profound stirring beneath the surface, that is the greatest hope I have when I write. Thank you for sharing this with me. I will carry your words close. Emily

This is absolutely beautiful Emily. The exquisite clarity of your photos!

And your words which lace this all together just like the dragonfly: "wings catching the light like cut glass, Iridescence glittering with diamond dust."

Thank you for your caring and attention to nature Emily and for how you bring that to the world. 💖xxx

Beautiful. Your reverence sings. And “inherited creativity” is the perfect reframing of something we typically assign to humans. The hubris!

So many turns of phrase to pause upon and bow. Thank you Emily for your devotional heart.

“Watch the honey bee's passionate dance,

Their bodies dusted gold, gathering nectar and shimmering warmth,

Sealing in wax the amber distillation of summer.”

Thank you so much for this beautiful reflection, Kimberly, and for hearing the heart behind the words. I often feel as though I’m simply trying to echo what’s already there in the world, hoping not to miss the quiet brilliance of it. Your phrase “reverence sings”, thank you, I will hold your words with me through my day 💛✨much love xx
