Wow! Trembling, immersive prose Emily! Your descriptions are all so vivid that I found myself wondering if this actually happened to you?! Surely with your imagination, you’ve at least walked here in your dreams. And this line took my breath away, “I stood slowly and looked up into the blackness. It felt like standing beneath the open throat of time. Swaying with a sudden sense of vertigo, as if I might fall upwards and be swallowed by that vast silence.” All of it, really. And then I love where it leads, this ancient message from the water bears, the fossils, a resonance the protagonist now carries within her. Like a single note that can shatter glass, she holds it within her, understanding its great potential. Wow wow wow.
Thank you so very much for your kind words, I don’t know what to say. You are such a masterful writer, it’s beyond humbling to receive comments like this from you. I want so much for Mira’s story to be true, I wish I could write this future into reality. Also I’ve fallen into a chasm of adoration of fiction writing! I’ve always been an avid reader but now I want to write and write and write - but also while not giving up any of the other creative things I do. Thank you for always sharing such encouraging words, even though we don’t ‘know’ each other, I feel like we are friends 😘💛
Gah! This is spectacular, Emily! I loved part 1 so much and couldn't wait for this to come, and it is every bit as beautiful. You have such a talent for captivating description, and I found myself imagining the scenes in the style of your art - ethereal and a little otherworldly. And now I am hooked for part 3 😍 also - "Breath held still in lungs of stone" is just the most perfect description of the still and quiet of a cave I have ever read 💚
Thank you so so much Rebecca - the story setting was inspired in no small part by the joy and beauty of your own writing of the coast, and visiting rock pools and sand dunes and cliff side caves as a child. That you are enjoying the story is such a gift, I can’t tell you how much it means to read your kind words. Especially as your wiring is so gorgeous 💛
Emily... Wow! This is so breathtakingly brilliant I am left dazed in tearful speechlessness...the emotion in Mira's voice! Your faultless narration from "But then, I felt the pattern begin to shift." to "Grief rose in waves, sharp and bitter, flooding every hollow place inside me." was so credible I felt I was there watching in fear and horror with her!
This is masterful magic in its most finest artful form - I am awe, I can't wait for the final part!
A truly beautiful and original story - so well done lovely 💛✨xx
Thank you so much Susie, it means so very much to read your words. I have loved every part of writing this, and also had the hardest time and it seemed to get harder and harder the more I wrote! No idea how I’m going to get through part 3! I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you, always, for your kind words 💛✨
I can't even begin to imagine the work involved in writing something like this Emily, but you did! And you will write the last part with as much beauty and emotion as the first two, of that I have no doubt. Take your time and let it flow when the moment presents itself, there's no rush - I deleted a whole essay last night because I am so insanely busy in spring it simply wasn't good enough to send out amongst so many brilliant writers and I knew it. I will try again tonight, a storm has arrived so my work is less... I just hope the words will be flowing as brightly and beautifully yours do!
I always look forward to reading your beautiful words Susie, they are always spellbinding and they transport me utterly. I am sure that when you write next, I will be transported anew and spellbound again 💛✨
Breathtaking Emily. You write so stunningly about the beauty and the horror. I felt the physical pain myself in those two brutal paragraphs when things start changing and the "Iron teeth bit into the earth. I watched as unyielding concrete stretched out across the estuary, constricting the tide."
Oh goodness Jo, you are very kind. I have enjoyed every minute of writing this, and also slaved over it like I’ve nothing before. Thank you for reading and for your comments. I was worried it might be too long for people to read 💙🦋
Lovely, again.
Thank you Rebecca 💛✨

All of it is true. And I believe friendship is experienced in many ways these days, even when it's not in the flesh. So yes, friends. xoxoxox
Friends 💛✨
